  • This information will give you some insight of how cultured marble products are made and what you can and cannot expect the finished product to look like. Cultured marble is a man made cast synthetic product, which consists of real crushed marble (calcium carbonate) and is blended with a polyester resin and hardener. Color pigment is added to achieve desired color and vein. This mixture is poured into a mold which has been sprayed with a clear finish product which is called gel coat. The mold is then vibrated to level the mixture and to release any trapped air to the backside of the product. Due to a chemical reaction the mixture will chemically cross link with the gel coat and the mixture will bond together. The product will totally cure after 24 hours depending on the temperature and the conditions of the atmosphere it is produced in. Due to the mining process of the natural marble you may detect some foreign particles upon close examination. Marble will contain certain amounts of minerals and foreign particles due to its nature. We do attempt to remove the more noticeable particles and fill in these areas. Under certain lighting conditions and at different angles you may notice these areas. Important color information: each piece of cultured marble produced will be inconsistent in color and veining pattern due to the mineral content of the vein of marble which was mined from the mountain. The amount of color that shows upon the finished side of the product will vary as well as the natural color. We recommend that any pieces going together in the same room be ordered together to help assure that they will be made from the same batch of marble. Even though a preset formula is followed by the person pouring the marble we cannot guarantee that each piece made is going to be exactly the same in color consistency whether it is in the background color or the veining. The color samples we show you are to give you a general idea of what the color will look like and in no way can we guarantee that the sample and the final product will be exactly the same. You may also notice some inconsistencies around some edges especially on irregular shapes or special depth items because they have to be finished by hand. When it is at all possible we use the factory edge of the molds to produce a evenly rounded clean edge. Depending on the circumstances some bowls are worked by hand and are not as true as bowls that are preset and are one piece with the rest of the mold. This is especially true with double bowl tops and irregular shapes. It is also very important that you understand that recessed rimmed bowls are designed to help keep water from running off the top of the vanity top and they are not necessarily designed to make the excess water drain back into the bowl. Please realize that cultured marble products are products which can vary in nature and that we do everything possible to make the finished product the same as what you have selected. Due to the curing process your order is actually made larger than your original order by a margin of + or - 1/4
