This summer, from the advice of a friend (who knows the owner), I hired CottageCare to clean my house. It’s not a big house, about 850 sq ft.s0 it didn’t take long for this worker to get done. When she left, I noticed that something was wrong. I had some very important papers on my closet shelf, and they were gone. I started looking around, and I have a jar filled with change. I had some quarters in a baggie. I noticed the baggie was not where I had left it, and many were missing. I had them come back 2 weeks later. The same girl came back, but this time, I decided to “set up” her up. I put more quarters in a baggie, and I stuffed them far down into the jar. When she left, the bag of quarters was 1/4 gone, and the bag was at the top go the jar. The papers that I was missing from the top of my closet shelf, miraculously, re-appeared. I started looking through my drawers where some of my jewelry was, and realized that watches, gold chains, and gold earrings were gone. As I continued looking, I noticed a Chiefs sweatshirt and T-shirt were missing, as well as a 35mm camera. I called the police and filed a report. I also called CottageCare, and reported to them the situation. They assured me that they would look into all of this. Their employee was charged with theft, and was fired. I spoke with Brad Smith, who is the owner, and he assured me that he would pay restitution through his insurance company. This has been months and months ago, and still, this issue has not been resolved. I have called and left him messages, sent him email after email, and get absolutely no response. After all this frustration, with NO results, I have decided to take him to Small Claims Court. I just wanted others to know of my experience with this company, and the owner. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!
