Indianapolis – August 29, 2017- Color/Fun runs are one of the trendiest events to participate in, not only competitive runners, but for those seeking a unique activity to enjoy with friends.
However, there are businesses out there that “schedule” color/fun runs that never actually happen. Hatcher Event Productions, LLC, , dba The Fun Color Run, Lafayette, IN, have many color runs listed on their website, but in August 2017, BBB has verified with at least 3 hotels listed to host the bib pickup/vendor events at 3 different scheduled runs that these events are not on their schedules and they knew nothing about these events.
BBB Serving Central Indiana offers the following tips when considering participating in a color/fun scheduled in your area:
-Do your research. Check out the run organizer’s BBB Business Profile at bbb.org. Do a general internet search of the run coupled with the word “scam”.
-Don’t be fooled by a well-designed website. Scammers can easily create an officially-looking website, often times using pictures and other information from legitimate color/fun run websites. Look for misspellings or poor quality photos.
-Check with the local venue. Contact the park or host venue to confirm the event is on their calendar.
