I'd give no star if I could. Called for tune-up. **** came out said I had carbon monoxide leak would not do any service, left saying he could not turn unit back on for legal reasons due to this leak. That day a Thiele sales man came out and quoted a $3,000+ unit I could purchase. I slept that night, with unit off, in fear that there was a leak. I then had Paramedics out next day who did bring a carbon tester-found NOTHING. Then, Good Guys, again with a tester-found NOTHING! They did a tune-up for $20. less than Thiele was charging. I called Thiele and requested a full refund. She said she would do so.

As I explained to ****** during our phone conversation, a crack does not mean you have carbon monoxide it depends on the way it *****, but the potential is there. I have seen the photos from the technicians camera and a crack is visible. He was doing his job correctly and checking the heat exchanger first on a 20 year old furnace when the average life of the heat exchanger is 15 to 18 years. The other concern is the more a furnace runs the more the metal expands which makes it easier to locate a crack, when the unit is shut down and cooled the metal contracts which makes it less easy to locate. Therefore if it is turned off the other contractors could have a more difficult time locating it. We do not pay our technicians with any incentives to "lie" to our customers. They are paid hourly only, this has created a level of trust with our customers and it has shown through reviews and the fact that we have been in business for 138 years now. We did refund her money, mainly because she was upset and that is not in our nature to accept money if someone is not satisfied, but this was not because we were accepting blame. For the safety of ****** we recommended purchasing a digital carbon monoxide detector just to assure she is safe in the future which we recommend to anyone that has gas appliances in the home. We do our best to make sure that anyone is safe and comfortable in their home, that is the job.
