      We rented the Mauna Kea Fairways H**3737373730383438**H #** home for a stay March ****, 2023. The home is described on the H34**3433383335353730H website as: "Located on a choice home site, the property is optimally positioned on a bluff providing for exceptional 200 degree views of the ocean, H3835**353238**3832H coastline and Maui off in the distance. A long driveway separates the home from other Mauna Kea residences, affording the utmost seclusion. Fairways H**3737373730383438**H **************************************** adult groups, offering three private master suites and picture-perfect outdoor spaces." Nowhere in the website description does it call out that there is an active construction site next door. There are tractors excavating the yard, extremely noisy and a complete lack of privacy. There were 3 tractors working on the landscaping (one **** away from the supposedly peaceful pool of our rented home) each weekday we were there. Additionally, workers were on the roof of the home next door cutting stacked stone at 9am on a Saturday. We NEVER would have booked and paid over $30,000 for our stay if we knew we had little peace and quiet and unable to use the pool during the day without the noise and onlookers.To add to our frustration, the swimming pool was filthy dirty. We realize that the strong winds were to blame. but the pool technician didn't arrive until March 7th! Then more winds arrived that same afternoon, and because the pool sweep was broken, the pool remained filthy dirty the entire time we were there. It was unusable.We complained often via phone call/email, but little acknowledgement of the issues. They did credit us the cost of 1 night's stay, but the home was falsely advertised and at no point during our 12 night/13 day stay was the pool usable, and during at least 8 of the days there was so much noise and disruption from the construction next door that we had little ***************** do have several videos if useful to you.       A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THAT NO ONE SHOULD ENDURE AND PAY SO DEARLY FOR IT. I was a guest from August 13 to August 24, 2022. From my arrival the cooling system was very loud and made it uncomfortable to sit anywhere in the apartment while trying to relax. Even when on, the thermostat did not work properly and the apartment was too warm for 11 out of 12 days requiring that I be out of the villa. This was confirmed by three staff people when meeting with me in the apartment, although I was told that I was the only person to complain by someone who never came to the apartment. I was also told it was a water operated system that was loud. Staff disagreed with each other about what the problem was both in person and on the phone with each other. No one showed me how to possibly correct the problem which was done on the phone and only lasted one day. I was offered a day's compensation and was told that another room was not as nice so I should not change. Attempts to relocate through an 800 number were unsuccessful as the travel bureau was not open that envening and no hotel could be found. I was forced to spend all days and evenings elsewhere except to sleep. I am more than willing to pay for the two days where the temperature was fine although the cooling system was still loud. The villa was nice and clean and well furnished but that was the extent of the satisfaction I was offered. I also spent hours on the phone attempting to make the villa habitable with almost no success. I would never suggest one stay in this particular condo. Attempts to reach corporate offices of VRBO. and Expedia have been unsuccessful. Getting to talk to someone in the corporate office is like looking for someone in the witness relocation program. A MOST UNHAPPY EXPERIENCE THAT WAS DESIGNED TO HELP ME ALLEVIATE SOME OF THE ***** DUE TO THE RECENT DEATH OF MY WIFE. Instead it made daily life characterized by aggravation. UNACCEPTABLE. ****************
