Better Business Bureau Calls for Consumers to “Lock Down Your Login” with White House and National Cyber Security Alliance

Two-factor authentication (2FA) reduces consumers’ vulnerability to scams, fraud, and identity theft linked to hackable passwords.

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month! To help prevent cyber-threats, Better Business Bureau (BBB) has joined the White House, National Security Alliance, and dozens of other organizations to urge consumers and businesses to “Lock Down Your Login”.

Many reports of scams and stolen identities are tied to hackable passwords and weakly-guarded accounts. The “Lock Down Your Login” campaign hopes to combat fraud by encouraging the use of more secure two-factor authentication (2FA). In 2FA, you must use two out of three methods of identification (something you know like a password, something you have like a phone, or something you are like a fingerprint), to log-in to an account. If this information is kept in a secure place and not shared, 2FA is one of the best ways to improve your cybersecurity.
