On December 2, 2021, The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved a settlement agreement with Uber (Agenda ID #20019) in regard to the reporting of data concerning sexual harassment and assault.
The agreement stems from an order to Show Cause that was brought against Uber for failing to respond to CPUC’s request for information on the above matters.
In addition to the $9 million dollars that will be used for survivors of violence and sexual assault and towards efforts to address physical and sexual violence in the passenger carrier industry, going forward, Uber will provide the CPUC information on sexual assault and harassment incidents while putting in place a system to protect their identity but allowing survivors to opt-in to provide CPUC with information.
