Ill try to only state the facts here. My sister and her partner had two storage units in LA, my sister and I share one. I moved LA to OR. They moved LA to SF. They hired this moving company to get the things out of the storage units. They had to FaceTime the movers, to tell them what to take and what not to take. THIS IS BECAUSE NOT EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO SF. My things should have stayed in storage, because I had moving plans for them later. This is important. The movers took all the things. When the mistake was noticed, they offered to take them back to LA but could not, because they ALSO told the storage company to close the account out. They take all the things to SF. My sister makes it to SF and has to climb into the storage pod to tell them which items do not belong to her. They are going to send a quote for how much to send me my belongings. Heres where it gets dicey. I do not believe I should pay full price for this shipment. 1) I did not hire them. 2) it was on their error that my items were not in LA, when the movers I DID hire, were scheduled to ship 3) this is now an additional $4k they are asking for, on their mistake. After getting the quote for $3991, I call to discuss. The woman that answers already knows who I am. Does not need the job number or anything. I have never called or spoken to them before. She is already defensive. 1) she gives me the sorry, I cant do anything about this, Im only the office girl so I ask for someone else. She says there is no one else. 2) I said can I speak to someone who can make decisions then. She says no. 3) I asked for the owners contact. She says no. 4) I said can you give the owners my info. She says no. At this point I admit I am indignant about the matter. Pressing to speak to someone who can actually make decisions in this matter, she raises her voice and becomes irate, and tells me I can make decisions, Im telling you no one will talk to you. The owner is my dad and Im the partial owner. Im done at this point. She is clearly playing games here and giving me the run around. You are either just the girl in the office that cant make decisions or youre the partial owner and I made my decision. Either way, no professionalism is displayed from the beginning. She is now holding my items hostage. She says she will not ship them to me. She says she will charge me if I send someone else to get my items. I never agreed nor signed any contract for my things to be in her possession. I am horrified that this is the ethics of a moving and storage company. I asked her for her name. She would not tell me. She says she is Pedros daughter. And you guessed it. She hung up on me. Be warned. All is well until a problem arises and know that THIS is how they deal in customer service and conflict resolution.
