My wife and I own a condominium in Ocean City, at the Atlantis condominium located at 10300 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD. On or about February 21 of 2023 I contacted Garth *********, doing business as The Affordable Tile Man. I requested that Garth give me an estimate to replace the shower wall in one of the bathrooms in the condominium. On March 2, 2023, Garth texted me his estimate. Garth stated that “I would remove and dispose existing wall tile and tub valve/showerhead, supply and install new moen tub valve and waterproof wall board to studs and install your tile 75 ft.² needed for $2000." On April 13 Garth asked me to send him a $1000 deposit for the work to 211 Bimini Ln. Berlin, MD 21811. The deposit check was mailed on April 18, 2023. My wife and I came down for the weekend to check on the work on April 18, 2023, but Garth had not completed the work. On April 26 Garth stated he was done with the tile work and stated that he only needed to have the plumber and stall the shower head and spout which should be done on the same day. Because my wife and I live in Washington DC we did not have an opportunity to inspect the work until we came down for Memorial Day weekend and discovered that the tub had been damaged. On May 26 I text Garth and sent him pictures to show that a major hole was in the tub where he had repeatedly used his ladder to do the tile work. I received no response. I have reached out to him several times by text and by phone calls and have received no reply. I am requesting he replace or repair to my satisfaction the damages to the tub he caused.
