We had a new roof and 2 skylights installed on November 30, 2023, by Valor Home. The existing roof was 19+ years old so it was time for a new roof. The workmanship was good for the install. During the process, Valor removed the vinyl siding on all 4 sides of the fireplace box which encloses the fireplace pipe that exits the roof. In addition, this siding and other construction materials were stored on top of the cap during the roof install. After 19+ years we did not have any leaks. After the first rain, one week after the roof installation, we had major leaks in the closet and master bathroom in the area below. I contacted Valor and a crew came out to inspect for leaks. The on-site supervisor said that they are not allowed to work on fireplace caps so it's not Valor's problem. A manager came out the same day, went on the roof and told me it's not Valor's problem because they do not work on fireplace caps because of "Hot pipes". He said it's not our problem so we will not pay. He packed up his gear and left. He did not even enter the house to inspect the leaks. My complaint is that they did work on the fireplace box, and they stored the vinyl siding (that they removed from all 4 sides of the box) and other materials on top of the fireplace cap during the roof install. The extra weight must have broken the seal around the pipe allowing water to enter causing major leaks below. After 19+ years of no leaks, we had major leaks one week after the roof install. Is this a coincidence? Since then, I did pay an independent company to install a new fireplace cap which solved the leak issues. I have sent emails and texts to Valor Home and have not had any response. I continued to reach out to them without any response. I am requesting the cost of the repairs from Valor for the new installed cap that solved the problem of leaks from the broken pipe seal. I was hoping that someone from Valor Home would have contacted me about my concerns. Thank you, Alex N.
