BBB Metro New York Alert: Complaints Claim Loosely Store Doesn’t Deliver Ordered ItemsBetter Business Bureau Serving Metropolitan New York is issuing an alert to shoppers concerning Loosely Store, an online retailer reportedly located in New York. This alert and Loosely Store’s “F” rating are the result of the number of complaints against the business received by BBB Metro NY. Since December 15, 2017, BBB Metro NY has closed 95 complaints, 19 of which remain unanswered by the business, in addition to 63 pending complaints that are still in the process of resolution. BBB Metro NY has also received 37 negative customer reviews and over 50 reports are posted on BBB’s Scam TrackerSM system regarding Loosely Store. “It is relatively easy to make questionable websites appear inviting to a shopper,” said Claire Rosenzweig, President and CEO of BBB Serving Metropolitan New York. “The sellers may also use appealing advertising on social media to lure you in. Consumers should research the products they want to buy, then do some comparison shopping, check reviews for the website from which they want to purchase, and read BBB Business Profiles. Shop at recognized and reliable retailers and be extra careful if a retailer is unknown to you.” The majority of complaints received about Loosely Store involve blankets ordered for holiday gifts that were reportedly not delivered on time, and many orders that were allegedly never received. Many complainants who did receive the blankets reported that they were of poor quality and often of a much smaller size than they were led to believe. Multiple consumers filing complaints allege that the business is not responsive to their email and phone inquiries about the status of orders and requests for refunds. They were reportedly told that items are in transit and cannot be refunded; some reported being given invalid shipping tracking numbers. Many consumers noted that they purchased items from Loosely Store as a result of advertising seen on social media sites including Instagram and Facebook.Loosely Store operates a website at https://www.looselystore.com. The domain was privately registered in August 24, 2017 with a Toronto, Ontario address.In early January 2018, a person who identified himself as the company's general manager replied to BBB Metro NY's Pattern of Complaints inquiry email. He reported that the company was working to resolve the problems consumers were having and said that the company is located in Spain. However, consumers often note that items are shipped from China and are told that in order to return an item for a refund the item must be shipped back to China. BBB Metro NY requested the company provide a detailed statement about how it intends to address the pattern of complaints, but, to date, has heard nothing further from the business.
