BBB of the Upstate South Carolina is warning consumers of the business practices of Triple A Marketing, operated by Duncan Howard Dawkins, using a PO Box in Spartanburg.Having branded promotional items is a powerful marketing tool for any business. But this business is capitalizing on the desire for increased visibility to attain clients in both North and South Carolina to then disappear after receiving payment. Consumers contacting the BBB indicate that Dawkins would promise to create the desired item and after getting paid in full up front, not only would they never receive the item but they would never hear from that individual again. One consumer said, “Products were not delivered and phone contact has been impossible. Our calls are not returned and now the voicemail box is full.”BBB investigation of the company’s business practices and numerous customer complaints resulted in the company earning an F Rating. After multiple attempts to contact Dawkins by phone and mail with no response, BBB was forced to close the complaints as no response by the company. BBB has been unable to verify any information pertaining to the operations of this company.Dawkins has also used this address for a business named Affordable Photography, with complaints outlining the same type of interaction. When hiring any type of graphics printing company, BBB offers the following tips to ensure your project runs smoothly.Ask Around. If you are in the market for a graphic designer or printing services, ask around for references from friends, family and colleagues. When considering a graphic designer or print service, ask to see samples of their work and what exactly they contributed. Did they have creative and artistic freedom or did the client provide clear and precise guidelines to follow? This should give you an idea of their work.Consider Experience. It is important to know if the designer and print services you are considering have successfully completed work similar to your request. If they have never been tasked with the project you are proposing, it may be wise to look elsewhere. You want to work with someone who has experience with the project and knows what challenges they may face and what steps to take to overcome them.Make a Budget. Naturally, more detailed projects that take more time and resources will cost more than smaller, more simple projects. Consider which details you can afford to include and which ones you may need to pass on to keep within your budget. Be sure to agree upon all costs and expected labor time before signing a contract and placing an order.Be Specific and Organized. When you propose the project, be sure to be specific about what you want the graphics and final prints to look like. Take the time to provide an organized proposal with clear objectives so there are no surprises when the final product is ready.Read the Contract. Take time to read the contract agreement fully and specify deadlines and expectations. It is equally important for the customer to provide the business with pertinent information, such as design changes, as soon as possible. Additionally, once your project is underway be sure to follow up as deadlines are approaching to ensure everything is moving forward.
