Keven and Tami Lackey started their business in November of 1995 and joined BBB only five months later. They are looking forward to celebrating their 20th anniversary with Acclaimed! Heating, Cooling & Furnace Cleaning in the new year and will celebrate another big “20 year” milestone with BBB in 2016!“Since starting out on this venture in our early 20s, we have really grown and matured as both a business and as business owners,” says Keven. “In the beginning it was just me as a lone tradesman - in a bow tie, white collar shirt and coveralls! Tami was at the helm, developing the administrative side of the business. Together we worked as a team to create a full service HVAC and Furnace cleaning company that now employs 25 people. We’ve only been able to expand our company, by employing quality people who share the same ethical standards of professionalism and superior customer service as we do,” says Keven.“We started with the desire to bring higher standards to an industry that lacked professionalism and ethical business practices. Our internal mantra was bringing a “white collar approach,” to a very “blue collar” industry,” says Tami Lackey, Co-Owner of Acclaimed! Heating, Cooling & Furnace Cleaning. Tami and Keven wanted to see that their company maintained the values of a family run business model and expanded on that vision by bringing on Tami's dad, Al Kreklau, when they incorporated, as their Account Sales Manager for the installations division.Acclaimed! has adopted a “whole circle” approach to the HVAC and IAQ industry, establishing three distinct divisions to best serve its clients. “The one thing that is never compromised is customer service. We have a culture in the company that any problem gets resolved quickly, decisively and that we go well beyond the expectations of our clients,” says Keven Lackey, Co-Owner of Acclaimed! Heating, Cooling & Furnace Cleaning. “When we started our technicians even wore a bow tie with a white dress shirt. This lasted 12 years, before we had to abandon that uniform to conform with new worker safety practices,” says Keven. The company originally did furnace and duct cleaning as its core focus - with HVAC servicing and installations being a minor part of the business. Residential and commercial furnace and duct cleaning are equally important to the Lackeys and have an equal share of their business. "In March of 2009, we incorporated an HVAC service division and an installations division. The company now has each division accounting for a third of our day to day operations, with dedicated people who are specific to their field of expertise, working within each division," says Keven.Acclaimeds "Furnace and Duct Cleaning" division caters to any size of project; from residential homes - to skyscrapers and Rexall Place! Their "Installations and Service" divisions, focus solely on the residential and light commercial markets. Within all three departments, the same dedication to customer care is employed in everything they do.Acclaimed! Heating, Cooling & Furnace Cleaning in the CommunityTami and Keven Lackey live their family values through not only their business, but in their personal lives as well. Having six children of their own, they try to give back to the community whenever they can - and have even provided services at no or low cost to families in need. “We’ve gone into situations where service, or even a new furnace are necessary in a home - with the client not having the means to do so,” says Tami.” “In one instance, a wonderful older couple needed a new furnace due to the age and safety issues with their existing furnace. They had taken in and adopted their four grandchildren, under very trying circumstances. Instead of retiring on a fixed income, they chose to remain working to care for the kids. Without the ability to afford a new furnace, our company came to their aid making sure they had a safe new, reliable furnace,” says Tami.“The most satisfying part of what we do is serving people in need,” says Keven. “In many cases we come across a person with a respiratory illness and by cleaning their vents and installing a high efficiency furnace filtration/air cleaning system, they can live a healthier life. It’s equally satisfying, repairing furnaces when it’s -30 outside and 5 degrees inside. People are truly grateful to have a friendly serviceman show up and fix things,” says Keven. The Lackeys have given back to the community by being involved in several important projects, including the installation of an entire mechanical system at no cost, to Ricard House. "Ricard House is a residential home that families who live out-of-town can move into, while a loved one has critical illnesses,” says Tami. “The house brings comfort to the entire family in at a very stressful time - including their pets! - allowing them to stay together, connected.” The Lackeys have also contributed approximately $100,000 in charitable services and gift certificates for the purposes of silent auctions, to dozens of organizations. So why does BBB make sense for Acclaimed?“Prior to Google reviews and HomeStars, there was BBB. It was the only agency that had the backs of the customers if something went sideways with a transaction,” says Tami. “At Acclaimed, we are all about transparency and great customer service. In the advent of on-line reviews and comments (Homestars, Google, among others) from clients, BBB is still the most relevant source of credibility, because of its long-term history of advocating for the client, if an unethical contractor is conducting less than stellar business practices,” commented Tami.“Having long-term BBB Accreditation “means something” to all clients, not just those that do internet searches,” says Keven. “No online service can do these things. Having earned a BBB A+ rating, and having been Accredited since 1995, has given our clientele confidence that they are dealing with a quality, ethical operator - which is what we want to be known and remembered as.” - Keven Lackey, Co-owner of Acclaimed! Heating, Cooling & Furnace Cleaning.
