BBB Accredited Business, The Xfinity Center, is one sure example of a business that strives to grow and continues to better their venue through listening to their fans. The Xfinity Center opened in 1986 as Great Woods Performing Arts Center, the brainchild of Don Law, John Drew, and Sherman Wolf. Now averaging 30 shows per summer, the venue hosts a wide range of performing acts, from comedy shows to rock and roll, and pop music acts. I spoke with The Xfinity Center’s Director of Venue Sales, Brian Joyce, to learn a little more about the venue. Joyce filled me in on a recent challenge the venue faced and revealed how it was overcome.“One challenge we have is keeping fans comfortable in their seats, and accommodating for the needs of every fan,” began Joyce. “Ten years ago we added seats to the uncovered part of our amphitheater, giving more seating to those who did not want to sit on our lawn during the show. This year, we are replacing the seats in our VIP boxes to differentiate those seats and make the VIP Experience more comfortable. We are also re-designing the layout of some of our boxes to give more of a range of seating options to our fans”.With a seating capacity of approximately 19,900, you’ve got to wonder how they make sure every fan is having a good experience. One thing is clear with The Xfinity Center - their desire to grow and modernize with their fans and the music industry helps their venue stay on top.“One thing our staff does well is find what each fan is looking for, and then provide first class service. Two recent conversations I have had come to mind,” added Joyce. “The first was with a business owner who has one of our VIP boxes for the full season. He has let the VIP staff know when one of his more important business partners is using his tickets. With the help of our servers and ushers staff, we take care of his client, so he can increase his business.” “The second is from a woman who has been attending our shows for over twenty years. She loves sitting in the same location in Section 7, right next to the sound booth, where the view looks over the closest part of the crowd. She has the same seat to every show, enjoys a drink before each concert in our VIP Courtyard, and brings her friends and family with her. Her love of live music, and the comfort she has with our venue keeps her coming back every year!”The Xfinity Center is part of a vibrant regional creative community that includes a diverse array of individual artists, performers, nonprofit organizations, and businesses. The synergy between The Xfinity Center and these organizations and attractions generates intrinsic benefits to the community by creating a welcoming and exciting environment. “The Xfinity Center has grown over the years from Great Woods through its current iteration because of the passionate fans of the bands that we host every summer,” Joyce expressed. “Without support from the community and the fans of the entertainment we provide, we would not be able to stay in business!”Do something good for yourself and take advantage of the warm weather by attending a few local concerts! The Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA is a great place to enjoy shows and make memories. The Xfinity Center is a BBB Accredited Business.
