Because no matter what he did he never seemed to be able to get heavy sediment out of the rugs he was cleaning, he decided to invent the “Rug Badger.” Using the power of over 40,000 harmonic vibrations/min the Rug Badger completely separates heavy sediments and dirt from any area rug. With all the dry soil and harmful elements removed first, the final cleaning process becomes quick and easy. The amount of time spent cleaning rugs is thus reduced by 10% or more. The Rug Badger is now produced by a factory in Alabama. Steve’s Passions:Rugs obviously! Steve is passionate about rugs as an art form and wants to connect people to the art form, by teaching his clients more about their rugs, where they came from and how to care for them.Steve is currently learning how to fly a plane with his son (who he claims is a better pilot than him). Learning to fly has been a dream of Steve’s since his early 20’s, but it wasn’t possibly financially or timewise until now.Steve also does industry specific business coaching. His advice to newer businesses: “Name is everything! My business was originally called Lug a Rug, and it didn’t have great success until I changed the name to Luv-a-Rug." Supporting the Community:Charity is an important part of Luv-A-Rugs’ culture. Steve takes rugs by donations and washes/repairs and donates them to charities such as WIN, Habitat for Humanity and other Thrift Stores, or will just give them to someone who could really use it.Steve has adopted a Syrian family of eight. The family lives downstairs in a suite in his house. He connected with the family through VIRCS when they were looking for a donation for a rug for another family. When he heard that there was another family that had unexpectedly arrived from Syria that needed a place to live, Steve and the local community banded together to prepare a place for them in his home.Steve is also an avid support of the SPCA. He recently helped to assist horses affected by wildfires in B.C by cleaning horse blankets by donation. Congratulations Steve & Luv-A-Rug for your ongoing generosity and heartfelt charitable contributions to the community!
