Service Nova Scotia is making the public aware of unlicensed activity involving home alarm systems sold door-to-door over the past year. The iCONIC Alarms has been operating without a licence since February 2017, selling home alarm services door-to-door on behalf of ADT Security Services. Service Nova Scotia has not approved a permit for iCONIC Alarms, as the company failed to comply with the Direct Sellers' Act and regulations.Nova Scotians who have entered into an ADT Security Services contract sold by a door-to-door seller representing iCONIC Alarms between February and October 2017 are protected under the Direct Sellers' Regulation Act. This legal protection means that the contract can be cancelled at any time, for any reason. You cannot be charged cancellation fees or any additional amounts for home alarm equipment that was installed. If you purchased an alarm system through iCONIC, and if you would like to cancel your contract with ADT Security Services, you can contact the company directly. When purchasing goods or services through a direct seller, BBB joins Service Nova Scotia in encouraging you to work only with licensed sellers and to always check the seller's licence before paying any money or entering into a contract.
