We suspected a gas leak due to sudden large increase in gas bill and contacted gas company. No leak was found but inspector noted that gas cooktop needed a termination plate installed to be within compliance and gave us until 12/27/22 to have it installed. We sought out a plumber and contacted Jeffs Westside Plumbing. They advised us that to come out to the home and assess would require a $120 deposit but that this would be applied to the total invoice cost after repair was completed. On 12/15/22 they came to the home to look under gas top range to see what part theyd need to order and collect the $120. They would not accept cash and I reluctantly gave them our credit card number. They wrote it down and left. They were in the home a 1/2 hour at most. The charge cleared the bank. About a week later they came to install the part only realizing they ordered the wrong part and left. The returned the 27th with the new part and were working under the cooktop for over an hour and a half when my husband grew concerned and asked what the problem was. They advised they ordered the wrong part again. My husband contacted the manager *** and he was very apologetic advising my husband that again they had the incorrect part but were trying to put something in place that would avoid causing the gas company to turn off our gas for not having it remedied in time. *** stated that they were not going to charge for any labor that day and that the cost of the visit was in the company for not having the correct part. He stated that if the gas company had an issue to refer them to him and he would advise of the problem and the attempts to rectify it timely. However, the gas company never returned. On 1/6/23 they returned with the correct part and repaired it. They provided a total invoice of $170 for the job and part, however they did not deduct the $120 deposit and refuse to do so citing they spent so much time helping us to avoid gas disruption. Final charge should of been $50.
