Service call was made to my house on Oct. 18, 2021. Technician cleaned the unit to get it ready to turn on heat. Since it was still hot here in *******, I asked technician, to check freon levels in the compressor. He told me that there was no freon at all. Gonzalez H&A had just repaired the unit in April 2021 for $485.00, and added 5 pounds of freon to the compressor (Extra $75 for freon) to use for cooling over the summer. I asked technician to add 2 more pounds to the unit to get me through the middle of November, but he said that he could only add 5 pounds. He never told me that the price had gone up to $450 for the 5 pounds! Later that afternoon, the unit on the roof sounded like it was shorting out; a friend told me it was short-cycling because there was no freon when he checked the unit with cables and gauges. I've sent emails and called numerous times to try to cancel the remainder of the service agreement with them ( $215) and also try to get a refund on the freon ($450) which I believe was never added. Subsequently, I've gone with another company to install a brand new heating and cooling unit.Their technician never checked the heater for carbon monoxide until I asked if he did that. The heater was only run for a minute before he checked for *** and he had to go back to the office for the CO meter to use.I feel like I was ripped off and a full assessment of the compressor wasn't done before the supposed freon was added. After over a month, I'd like the BBB to try to resolve this. Thank you.
