My house for sale and an inspection repot indicates that weeping tile may need replacement. I was currently out of town for work and booked contractors to send me their quotes. After reviewing the quotes and researched the companies, I decided to reach out to Abalon. On Jan 7, 2022 I received a quote from Abalon Construction to Supply + Install 170ft of interior weeping tile. Connect to sump perforate sump pit for $15,800+GST. I agreed and had a call from their Dispatcher/Scheduler **** and booked me in to start repair on Jan 24. My friend met Abalon and handover my house key to start construction on Jan 24, 2022. January 25 AM, my friend sent over some videos and checked on the construction and it looked everything are going well. On January 25 PM, I received a call from their supervisor informing me that they will have to remove the entire floor. I asked how much and he said around $30K. I said I have quote from a competitor under $30K he said to match. I asked to submit a quote or estimate to understand how its $30K and he said he will submit. Jan 26 AM I texted him requesting for a quote, he said end of the day. Jan 28 AM concrete floor is removed exposed the dirt and mud. I never received a quote or estimate and agreed. Went ahead and remove the floor, after the contractor realized that mud was under the slab, he then suggested I have to pay for Hydrovac to expose the underground lines which I did on Feb 03 AM. I asked again for quote/estimate or cost to date cant give an answer. Contractor was running out of ideas so I asked how is this going to be resolved and how much, he didn't sound confident with his resolutions at this point and said the cost will be over $30K or under. I emailed their management expressing my concerns. Feb. 08 I talked to the VP and told my story. He said he will send the cost of work completed and remaining work. He sent me $14,320 for remove and dispose of concrete that was not in the original quote. I said no, we split the cost.
