DENVER, COLORADO — BBB serving Denver/Boulder is issuing a warning regarding MGMX Merchant Services or MGMX Compliance. This business is not accredited. MGMX Merchant Services presents itself as a provider for credit card processors. BBB could identify no principal for the business, and the business address listed is PO Box 371680, Department 73818, Denver, CO 80237.
MGMX Merchant Services has been sending out misleading invoices to small business owners for an “annual EMV terminal download fee,” concerning the new chips in credit/debit cards and the software download for machines to make the merchant compliant. BBB has received 10 reports through ScamTracker, in which all complainants describe the mailer.
PCI Security Council, a global forum for ongoing development, enhancement, storage, dissemination, and implementation of security standards for account data protection, has released a press statement that identified this company as unaffiliated with the PCI Council. The Council’s founding members are American Express, Discover Financial Services, LCB International, MasterCard, and Visa, Inc. These members have agreed to incorporate the PCI Data Security Standards as part of their technical requirements for each of their data security compliance programs.
BBB has had some communication with this business. They responded to our initial contact about the mailer, citing an internal batching issue, and claiming an employee keyed incorrect batch information to be sent out. BBB inquired about plans to remedy the issue and requested confirmation, at which time communication ceased.
