The opportunistic towing company towed my van from an ****** parking lot on ************ Labor Day weekend. My van, which had all the tools I make a living with, had a flat tire, so I pulled into the lot as it could not be driven any further. That was 11pm Saturday, September 2,2023. I called the tire store on Sunday to get a new tire. I called the ****** store at 10am and told the employee that I was coming with a tire and please don't call the tow company. He assured me it was still there and he would not call. When I got to ****'s Sunday morning it had already been towed. I contacted Extreme Towing immediately and was told to bring $600 to get it out. I asked if I could remove my tools until I got the $600. They said to bring $350 for the tools AND the title to my van. This is not only morally wrong, and an abusive practice but more importantly, illegal. They do not have the legal right to BOTH charge me to release my personal property AND ask for the title to my car! This practice is economically a death sentence for me. The towing company refused to work with me. If they do not resolve this, I will be forced to take them to small claims court as they are in direct conflict of the CO towing Bill of Rights.I am looking for an equitable resolution from Extreme before we go to court.

This customer is totally making false statements. The facts of the matter are as follows: We were contacted by *****, the owner of the property to tow an abandoned vehicle. The customer admits that they broke down on Saturday September 2nd at 11:00 pm, and contacted ***** on Sunday morning. Than he sates that he showed up on Sunday September 3rd and his vehicle was already towed.  That statement is completely FALSE, as his vehicle was not towed until Monday September 4th  as requested by ***** management and reported to ************************** as required by law. Second false statement made is that the customer states that, I contacted ********************************************* immediately and was told to bring $600 to get it out.,completely false as the charges that he was given when he called in on September 6th at 10:35 am was $282.13. We have the recording of the conversation. Then he came to the office on September 20th, which is 16 days later. The pricing that was given to him is a ************ regulated rates, rates that we must follow. When he showed up on the 20th he stated that he did not want his van and was then told that he can pay $300.00 and take all of his belongings that is permitted by the law. He was also told that if he abandoned his vehicle on our lot, which is against ************ he can either sell his vehicle to a junk yard or sign over his title and have his vehicle disposed of. Please note that the customers vehicle was disposed as required by ******** state Statue. His comment about, The towing company refused to work with me. If they do not resolve this, I will be forced to take them to small claims court as they are in direct conflict of the CO towing Bill of Rights. I am looking for an equitable resolution from Extreme before we go to court. Is completely false,we could have easily told him to pay the full amount as required per statue, but we tried to work with him. Regarding conflict of the ******** towing bill of rights, I highly recommend him to read the law and see that we have done absolutely everything per the law.
