2016 Students of Integrity Winners


Your Better Business Bureau, in partnership with its Center for Business and Consumer Ethics, Inc. (CBCE), announces the winners of its Students of Integrity, sponsored by Dayton Dental Collaborative and Reynolds and Reynolds. This is the twelfth year your BBB has recognized Miami Valley high school seniors who exemplify strong ethics and integrity. The award includes a $1,000 college scholarship. The Students of Integrity will be honored Tuesday, May 9 at your Better Business Bureau’s Eclipse Integrity Awards hosted at the David H. Ponitz Sinclair Center.

Savannah Boerger
Springfield, OH
Kenton Ridge High School
Savannah Boerger is a leader among her peers who possesses the character, integrity and work ethic to succeed. Savannah currently carries a 4.0 GPA and is ranked first in her class. Her perfect attendance throughout her high school career demonstrates her dedication to academics. She earned first place in the 2013 Ohio Math League competition and the 2013 Honda/OSU Math Medal Award and was named Clark County Exemplary Writer. In addition, Savannah has demonstrated her leadership through her involvement in extra-curricular activities and community service. She’s president of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, an active member of 4-H Club and volunteers with several programs and community service projects with her church, Salvation Army and a nursing home. She has a passion for animals and will pursue a career as a veterinarian. A teacher described Savannah as “a determined student, a fine member of the community, and a sweet, caring person.” This outstanding Student of Integrity with exemplary character is driven in her pursuit of excellence.
Kristina Hollkamp
Fairborn, OH
Carroll High School
Kristina Hollkamp is a model for her peers to emulate and an exemplary Student of Integrity. Her academic pursuits include several AP courses and a future degree in biochemistry to use her excellent research skills to cure diseases. She divides her time among several extra-curricular activities, including theater, tennis, peer tutoring and school clubs. She enjoys volunteering at Children’s Medical Center, her school’s Christian Service Workcamp, House of Bread and other local organizations. Her impressive list of awards include superior ratings at several levels of science fairs, two consecutive first place titles of the East Dayton Optimist Essay contest and participation in engineering and math competitions. Her teacher described her as “intellectually astute, academically disciplined, morally conscientious, and service-oriented.” Kristina is a Student of Integrity and will undoubtedly continue on her journey of success.
Maggie Schutter
Dayton, OH
Centerville High School
Maggie is a highly-motivated learner who approaches every aspect of her life with drive and a commitment to excellence. With a 4.35 GPA, she’s not only a classroom leader, but has also earned several leadership positions on her sports teams and clubs. Maggie is captain of her varsity volleyball and basketball teams. Throughout her high school career, she’s taken active roles in Student’s Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Stop Tobacco and Nicotine Dependence (STAND) and the South Suburban Coalition. She’s a mentor to at-risk elementary school students and high school freshmen, and a member of Circle of Friends. Despite her busy schedule, she finds time to volunteer for her school’s Mock Trial and Halloween Haunted Trail, as well as the MAK Memorial Baseball Tournament and area soup kitchens. One teacher said, “Maggie truly is the complete package: scholar, servant and leader with a bright future.” With plans to major in business or law, her success will surely leave a lasting impact on future generations. Your BBB is proud to have Maggie Schutter as a Student of Integrity. 
Kathryn Quinn
Dayton, OH
Stivers School for the Arts
A truly gifted young woman, Kathryn Quinn shows leadership by setting an example in her integrity, positive attitude and strong work ethic. Kathryn is dedicated to academics and the arts. She’s the National Honor Society president and a member of Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society. She’s an accomplished actress and musician, starring in several stage productions and playing oboe and clarinet in the Stivers Philharmonic Orchestra and alto saxophone in the Stivers Jazz Orchestra. This salutatorian candidate maintains a 4.41 GPA. This well-balanced young lady dedicates her time to organizations, such as Adopt-a-Park, Humane Society of Greater Dayton and National MS Society. Kathryn is also a teaching assistant at Aullwood Audobon Center and Farm. Kathryn plans to become a forensic scientist. In the words of one of her teachers, “when she sets out to do something, she does it, and she does it well.” Your BBB is pleased to honor her as a Student of Integrity.
Kenton Dickison
Pleasant Hill, OH
Milton-Union High School
Kenton Dickison presents a unique combination of maturity, high academic achievement, dedication and compassion. This honor roll student distinguishes himself as an energetic scholar, athlete, volunteer and champion of school spirit. He’s been his class president throughout high school, a National Honors Society member for three years and volunteers as a mentor to freshmen. In addition, he’s served as captain of his football, basketball and tennis teams. Kenton is an advocate for positive change. He suggested using funds traditionally used to build homecoming parade floats as donations to local organizations. In addition, he’s in show choir, school musicals, his church’s youth group and 4-H Club. He also dedicates his time to being a counselor for various sports camps. He plans to pursue a career as a pediatrician. One teacher said Kenton “can walk into a room and make the day a little brighter for everyone.” Kenton exemplifies high moral character through his everyday outlook on life and selflessness, making him an exceptional Student of Integrity.
A panel of independent judges selected these five students from the 75 applications. All high schools in your BBB’s service area received invitations to nominate two outstanding students from their senior classes.
Your Better Business Bureau believes identifying and honoring young people for strong integrity and character is vital to its mission of promoting ethics in the marketplace. Like the Eclipse Integrity Awards, the Students of Integrity highlight outstanding ethics. In bringing young adults to the forefront, your BBB is closing the loop on what it takes to be a successful and contributing community leader whether business, nonprofit or individual.
