DAYTON, OHIO, May 4, 2017 - Today, your Better Business Bureau is pleased to announce Danis Building Construction Company will be honored with your BBB’s eighth annual Torch Award. This company, which is dedicated to our community, will receive the prestigious honor at your BBB’s Eclipse Integrity Awards on Tuesday, May 9 at David H. Ponitz Sinclair Center, 444 W. Third St., Bldg. 12, Dayton.
Through the years, your BBB’s torch has been the symbol of guidance and enlightenment as consumers and businesses strive to interact in a trustworthy and ethical marketplace. The local Torch Award is dedicated to the legacy of great Miami Valley business pioneers, such as John Patterson, Wilbur and Orville Wright, Charles Kettering, Colonel Edward Deeds and most recently, Clay Mathile. It was through their ingenuity, leadership, generosity and mentorship to others the Miami Valley has stood the test of time and recreated itself again and again.
The list of reasons the selection committee decided to recognize Danis Building Construction Company as the BBB Torch Award honoree is long. It’s community impact program - Constructing Hope - is the conduit the company embraces to be a responsible neighbor. Through this program, the company impacts organizations that serve those in need, such as The Foodbank of Dayton, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Rebuilding Together Dayton. The program goal for 2016 was for Danis employees to complete a cumulative total of 1,200 volunteer hours. This goal was surpassed with 206 employees volunteering at 48 nonprofit organizations for a total of 2,604 hours.
The company is passionate about the ongoing development of its employees. It starts by inviting students to participate in its co-op program. The students that become full-time Danis employees enter Danis University, which offers over a dozen different training programs to boost their overall development. The capstone to its development training is the Danis Leadership Acceleration Program where mid-level managers are selected to partake in an 18-month process to boost their individual and team leadership skills.
Team members place client’s interests first by always demonstrating the highest levels of honesty and integrity, by providing quality and attention to detail and always standing behind the work they do. It’s a formula that works as is demonstrated by the company earning Associated Builders and Contractors recognition in 2016 on seven different projects.
The Torch Award was presented to Kettering Health Network in 2016. The honor will be passed to Danis Building Construction Company by Bruce Chan, MBA, FACHE, Kettering Medical Center’s Executive Director of Business Development & Physician Partnerships. Bruce Chan shares, “Kettering Health Network congratulates Danis on receiving the Torch Award. Danis’ track record of growing their employees and giving back to the community is inspiring. Their commitment to innovation that is evident in their completed projects embodies the spirit of the Torch Award.”
