  • On June 16, 2016, BBB notified Greyhound Lines of concerning patterns in consumer complaints. Specifically, BBB has identified patterns of allegations that Greyhound Lines 1) fails to provide refunds for travel where Greyhound Lines either never provided the promised transportation due to such reasons including overbooking that cause consumers to miss connections and/or transfers, and 2) fails to communicate delays and/or cancellations at its depots. BBB requested Greyhound Lines' cooperation in eliminating the underlying causes of these patterns in complaints. On September 26, 2016, Greyhound Lines indicated it has implemented the following steps to help reduce the types of complaints identified above. 1) Greyhound Lines has eliminated the practice of overbooking buses and has established a policy to provide accommodations for its customers who miss connections due to significant delays or cancellations. 2) Greyhound Lines has revised its policies to provide refund checks to customers to which refunds are due. 3) Greyhound Lines has established an app called Bus Tracker for its customers to be able to track the bus in real time. The business has posted signs at its depots notifying its customers of the app as well as the telephone number for customer services. Greyhound Lines has also started printing this information on its print-at-home bus tickets. In response, BBB will be monitoring Greyhound Lines' complaint activity for the coming months to determine whether the underlying causes of the patterns are being reduced or eliminated.
