National Advertising Review Services

National Advertising Review Services
An alliance of the Association of National Advertisers, the American Association of Advertising Agencies, the American Advertising Federation and the Council of Better Business Bureaus led to the creation of the Advertising Self-Regulatory Council (ASRC), the mission of which is to foster truth and accuracy in national advertising through voluntary self-regulation.

The self-regulatory system developed by ASRC supports advertiser compliance by focusing on three goals:

  • Provide a fast, flexible alternative to government regulation.
  • Maintain a level playing field for settling disputes among competing advertisers.
  • Increase public Trust in the credibility of advertising.

Self Regulatory Programs
To ensure the credibility of and impartiality in the self-regulation system, the advertising review process is administered by the CBBB. Established to provide guidance and set standards of truth and accuracy for national advertisers, ASRC sets the policies for the National Advertising Division (NAD), Children's Advertising Review Unit (CARU), National Advertising Review Board (NARB)Electronic Retailing Self-Regulation Program (ERSP), and Online Interest-Based Advertising Accountability Program (Accountability Program), all programs of the CBBB.
