Online Shoe Stores Steal Business Name, Use Fake BBB Logo

The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to avoid shopping on several shoe sales websites. BBB serving Evansville (IN) and the Tri-State has received numerous complaints from consumers across the United States and Canada who have not received the products they ordered.

The scam websites attempt to fool online shoppers by using the phone number and address of a longtime BBB Accredited Business, Swift Athletics, located in Evansville, Indiana. The sites have no affiliation with Swift Athletics. The scam websites also falsely use the BBB logo.

It is a common trick for scammers to  use the contact information of US or Canadian businesses, so they can appear to have a local office, and to use the BBB or other trusted logo to add credibility.

Below is a list of websites currently known to be using Swift Athletics’ contact information. New websites appear regularly, so BBB urges consumers to always use caution when ordering online.

  • Nowplaymore.com
  • Maddoxbengals.com
  • Electbetz.com
  • Cashcreditnow.com
  • Freeskifirm.com
  • Farmissy.com
  • Laurenjonesfootwear.com
  • Johncarterfitness.com
  • Sidexsidenut.com

If you placed an order on one of the above websites but haven’t received your item, please take the following steps:

  • Report your order to bbb.org/scamtracker.
  • File a complaint with the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.
  • Contact your bank or credit card company to dispute the charges.
