Consumers lose millions of dollars every year to thieves who steal credit card information to make fraudulent charges. Now the Huffington Post sheds light on a different type of credit card fraud, the type that doesn’t involve anyone stealing your information. Businesses, service providers, consultants and freelancers have been targeted by scammers who claim fraud in order to scare the merchant into refunding money rather than risk a lengthy or expensive legal battle. HuffPo recommends filing a complaint with BBB to warn others, and to get help from state licensing agencies or law enforcement.
