Bennett Weiner serves as chief operating officer of the BBB Wise Giving Alliance. This is the organization that resulted from the 2001 merger of the National Charities Information Bureau and the Council of Better Business Bureaus' Foundation which housed the Philanthropic Advisory Service program. In this capacity, he manages all aspects of the organization that monitors and reports on charitable organizations that solicit nationally or have national or international program services. He also counsels soliciting organizations on how to meet the voluntary Standards for Charity Accountability.
Mr. Weiner joined the Council of Better Business Bureaus in 1980 and held several positions in the philanthropic division. Over the years, he has been interviewed or quoted in print and broadcast media including ABC's Good Morning America, CBS Evening News, CNN, CNBC, ABC News Radio, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and U.S. News & World Report.
He has spoken about charitable accountability at conferences held by Independent Sector, the National Association of State Charity Officials, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Contributions Management Institute of The Conference Board, National Council of Nonprofit Associations, and others.
In 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 The NonProfit Times included him in its annual list of Top 50 influential nonprofit executives.
