    In April of 2022 I purchased 2021 **** ******* ** from this dealer. Upon doing the paperwork there was a $3,500 dealer markup. I questioned the salesman about it an he had told me that it was a markup but was being rolled into a extended warranty. I then asked him if I could purchase the vehicle without this and he said no. I then asked him to ask his manager if I could and he also would not allow it. I did not want the extended warranty. But I still purchased the vehicle. In April of 2023 I sold the ******* to ***** **** ** ******. Called the warranty company that I had the warranty through and they sent me to their website where I would have to fill out a form to get my pro-rated refund. Was also told buy the warranty company that all refund were done through the dealer and that the warranty could be cancelled. Upon submitting paperwork that was needed and everything that needed to be notarized was complete, I contacted Hammonasset Ford Sales Manager Steve M******* about the refund and he said that I was not due any refund because the "Extended Warranty" was not an itemized item on the purchase order and that It was "given" to me at the time of the purchase of the Mustang. *********** is the warranty company that it was purchased through and they agreed I was due a refund and that it could be cancelled. As well as the terms and conditions on the back of my warranty contract say so as well. I should be due back a pro-rated refund for the Vehicle Service Contract Warranty based off the original amount of $2500 and a pro-rated refund for the Identity Contract Warranty based off the original amount of $1000 which both are based off the the remaining months and mileage of the contract.

    When I attempted to order a 2023 Maverick at Hammonasset Ford in Hammonasset CT, they would not order it without requiring me to purchase an extended warranty to the tune of $2,700. They would not take the order unless I agreed to the additional surcharge. They said it did not fall foul of Ford's rules against dealers gouging customers with a dealer markup on ordered vehicles because it is a "value added service". I told the manager it is in fact the same thing because he is requiring it and it is not optional. Ultimately I decided to go to the Ford dealer in Mystic because their policy is to "not charge a dealer markup on orders for members of our community". Also, the dealer in ******* said they do not charge a dealer markup of any sort either, but for some reason they thought the order period for the Maverick was over. Either way, it can only be assumed that Hammonasset Ford's policy is to take advantage of the situation by gouging their customers. I recommend avoiding this business.
