When I moved in there was mold/mildew that wasn’t cleaned under the sink but was admittedly painted over, mouse droppings in the cabinets that were disgusting and not cleaned or painted, the AC unit didn’t work, the tub constantly has leaked for months while we are responsible for water, the upstairs toilet constantly runs which is our water as well, the pilot light on the furnace keeps going out. Despite efforts to get repairs, none were taken serious. When explaining how I submitted a written request, I was given an answer that all routine repairs are to be phoned in or emailed. I expressed how this has been an ongoing issue for months with no repairs. Our AC hasn’t worked for weeks and it’s nearly summer. I’m the lease I had proven that what we needed was to be requested by a written notice. No reply other than excuses. On top of that, in the lease, several areas it states that the tenant will pay for the remainder of the lease if it’s broken. It also states that we would be responsible for the landlords attorney fees BOTH of which go against the Kentucky KRS. It’s as if they don’t know the law. Landlord/tenant rights and laws are completely ignored. I am now facing eviction for withholding rent for the AC when it is a legal right yet they are still proceeding. This place is not a good place to live. They rushed me when I was trying to read such lease before signing and she said she can’t show me the apartment unless I just sign it. I feel we were taking advantage of and view the lack of response and repair as harassment. I fear that the eviction is harassment and retaliation towards my non payment for major repairs.
