CHICAGO, IL- November 13, 2015 – Six Chicago-area businesses have been selected as recipients of the 2016 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics by the Better Business Bureau serving Chicago & Northern Illinois (BBB). The Torch Award spotlights companies that exemplify ethical business practices. The 19th annual awards luncheon will be held Thursday, November 19, at the Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Ill. Hosea Sanders, co-anchor of ABC 7 Eyewitness News, will emcee the event.
Receiving awards will be:Dream Kitchens, Inc., Highland Park; Rainbow International of South & West Suburbs, Hickory Hills; New Age Transportation, Distribution & Warehousing, Inc., Lake Zurich; Normandy Design Build Remodeling, Hinsdale; Perma-Seal Basement Systems, Downers Grove; and Plante Moran, Chicago.

Bernas notes that the hundreds of nominations and entries came from across the 19 counties the Chicago BBB serves and included a wide variety of businesses.
Award recipients are selected by an independent panel of judges. Companies are judged on ethical performance in seven general categories, and are compared against similarly sized businesses based on number of employees.

The BBB is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. It is supported by businesses to protect consumers against scams and other unethical business practices. The group accomplishes this by educating both consumers and businesses, and by highlighting trustworthy businesses.
