      Web2Market Failure to Deliver 7/21/21 June 16/21 - Initial discovery phone call with Web2Market owner **** Knot.We outlined our serious problem with site speed. Knot presented his company as able to quickly revamp site to dramatically increase website ranking and performance. Our website uses the Magento 2 platform. Again we were told they are very experienced with Magento and have worked with many other companies with similar problems as ours. Their website banner says Web 2 Market specializing in ******************* and has certified Magento Developers with Expert ******************* and a team of ** developers.June 17/21 - Advance payment was made for an initial 10-hour block for $1,200.Work was to be directed specifically at website speed and performance.W2M provided a graphic showing Site Speed score of F and Performance of 30% on the mirror development site of the live site.We were told the initial work would yield the largest improvement in site speed. Ongoing work would yield less dramatic improvement.June 23/21 - Developer confirmed the slow checkout speed with STRIPE the payment gateway.June 24/21 - We discovered the main programmers were overseas [*****] which is a 12-hour time difference.June 25/21 - ****** developer began work but soon after ran into problems Initial updates to website showed slight improvement in site score [D] and performance 62% on the development site.June 27/21 - When asked, the programmer said these slight improvements would improve checkout speed. June 28/21 - Our webmaster informed Web2Market that the Menu [a main feature on any website] was missing on the development site.June 28/21 - Web2Market lists the items changed for speed update. At this point only 2 hours of contracted time were used.June 29/21 - Before pushing development updates to live site our webmaster asked Web2Market if it planned to re-sync the codebase on the development site to insure it was an accurate test.June 30/21 - Web2Market assured us there was no need to re-sync codebase.July 1/21 - We gave approval to go live with updates. Updates completed at 3:24PM ET ****** programmer wrote The speed looks improved than before. Site Performance was not as good as showed on the development site only E instead of D7/1/21 6:30 PM ET [only 3 hours later] - Administration and live site loading time slows significantly. Back-office issues prevented product editing.7/2/21 - Everyone loses access to administration log in.9:30 AM - We are finally able to get in. It took three password resets to get the ****** programmer into the administration site.Once again able to perform product editing, but at 10:30 AM find the top menu is missing.3:43 PM - Web2Market developer finally responds saying he is reviewing the issue.3:58 PM - We inform Web2Market all work be reverted back to original status.Indian programmer stops for the day. Another programmer attempts to login but fails 4 times.5:37 PM - Web2Market developer finally able to log in. Not able to find cause of missing Menu and questions if it really was there before they started work. 6:50 PM - We send a screen shot confirming Menu was functioning before Web2Market began work.7:30 PM - Issue is made a Ticket in Web2Market system.8:28 It is recommended we wait until ****** developer returns to work to restore site.7/3/21 - Charcoal House closed.7/4/21 12:16 PM - We confirm with Web2Market that the menu issue was set correctly on our end the problem resulted from their work.7/5/21 10:42 AM - Web2Market is told to stop all work. We would have our developer restore site.2:31 PM - Our site is restored by our developer.We are informed by our developer that the Flat Catalog Category chosen by Web2Market to optimize site speed and performance, is strongly discouraged by Magento because of causing performance degradation and indexing issues.!!!7/6/21 3:00 PM - We request full refund from Web2Market, and cost to fix site failures caused by Web2Market.Web2Market developer claims no responsibility for problems, and said they offered 24 hour support. We are told there is nothing he can do to refund or reimburse us for problems. We request to talk with Web2Market owner *****************.7/8/21 5:00PM - After 2 days we again attempt to speak with the Web2Market owner *****************. We were told Web2Market will NOT reimburse for cost of having our developer fix the site issue [$350], and will NOT refund the total fee of $1,200.UPDATE:7/21/21 - The live website Speed is F and only 54% Performance essentially no improvement in Site Score.COST:$1,200 - Web2Market fee.$350 Emergency billing from our contact Developer to fix problems resulting from Web2Market work.ISSUES CAUSED:Main site menu missing Users can't login Could not access product edit pages Administration becomes extremely slow CLAIMS:Web2Market claimed full knowledge of Magento platform but used a program that Magento strongly discouraged [Flat Catalog Category].Web2Market claimed experience and knowledge in dramatically improving website speed and performance.Web2Market confirmed work would improve checkout speed as well.July 1/21 1:23 PM - ****** programmer stated the speed looks improved than before. But in his 6/27 email the performance test showed D and 62%, and on July 1 it showed E and 45%. That is not an improvement, that is a major drop.CONCLUSION:Web2Market did not demonstrate full knowledge of the Magento platform. Web2Market ignored Magento best practices by using the Flat Catalog Category.Web2Market falsely claimed it could dramatically improve site speed and performance with the initial fixes. After implementing the fixes the programmer said, It looks as if there is some improvement. There was slight improvement on the development site {F to D] which reverted to F when pushed to the live site Web2Market ignored our suggestion to resync the codebase before pushing to live site. We were told it was not necessary, which proved wrong and expensive.We were told we would have tech support through the process. When the ****** developer left for the day we were left with no support except for an internal TicketWeb2Market was not able to restore the site to its original functionality.Web2Market did not stand behind their claim of experience and knowledge.Web2Market did not improve the website speed or performance in a substantial way as we were led to believe.Web2Market did not refund the full cost off the agreement.Web2Market did not refund for the unused work time.Web2Market did not reimburse the cost to have our contract developer fix the issues Web2Market caused and restore the website functionality.Web2Market, and specifically the owner *****************, demonstrated poor business ethics. They were not forward in trying to find an equitable solution for us, considering the time, expense and frustration with the problems they were directly responsible for.Web2Market readily accepted prepayment but did not deliver on any level.Web2Market cost us $1,550, and considerable webmaster time to fix their poor work.We cannot recommend Web2Market on any level.
