I purchased a home and used Advanced Home Inspections. The home was inspected on January 13th 2023. I closed on February 13th and did not move in until June 1st.I painted the entire home and upgraded before moving in as I had an outstanding lease ending May 41st.The stove was moved and the gas line to the stove was turned off as the entire kitchen was being painted along with the cabinets. Upon moving in the stove was re installed about a week after move in.There was a smell of gas coming from the stove. Called Nicor and they came out. It was discovered that the gas pipe was loose and leaking gas. The inspector from ***** inspected the entire gas line (in the basement) and discovered leaks at every joint. The gas was turned off by ***** as it was determined to be hazardous. An emergency repair was necessary. I was flabbergasted by this as the home inspection did not reveal any issue.The contractor recommended by ***** had to replace the entire gas line at a cost of $2350. I contacted Advance to inquire if they checked the gas line and to advise them that the contractor told me that the joints in the pipe line were cross threaded and that is the reason for the leak. Why wasn't this discovered during the inspection? No structural changes were made to the home to cause this and this is life-threatening! I told them if it was just the stove not being properly installed that I wouldn't have a beef, but this was a MAJOR mistake/miss! They were totally unsympathetic and basically told me to pound sand. I am very upset, feeling like they dropped the ball and put my life in danger!
