I took out this auto loan with Chicago Municipal Employee Credit Union in February of 2020. Starting that summer I received a notice that my auto loan was past due. I called the bank and was eventually told that the first payment I made was in the second month of the loan and therefore every payment I made was going to the previous month, even though they agreed I had made the correct number of payments. In August/Sept I made an additional payment online, at the direction of the bank, in an effort to just resolve this. A couple of months later, I started getting the late notices again. I called back, and was told the additional payment I made was applied toward principle and not my alleged past due balance, which is an issue in and of itself with their business practices. Following this I once again made an additional payment in an effort to just resolve this issue, this time I made the additional payment over the phone with them and was assured it was correctly applied to the past due amount. A couple of months later I once again started receiving notices my payment was late. Despite numerous calls and requests for the bank to look into this situation, and being told by numerous employees that I would hear back from them and that they would get to the bottom of this, I never received calls back. I repeatedly called for updates and could never get any information. In May 2023 I received a notice from my credit monitoring service saying the bank has reported me for a 30 day late on my auto loan. I called, spoke to a manger named ******, she added up all my payments and said I was actually paid through July 2023, not late (this is accurate given my two additional payments). I was told she was having this looked into by their back office and I would hear from her by Monday May 8th. I never heard back from her. I have now left a voicemail for the *** of the bank requesting a call back. I would like the bank to retract the error made to the credit bureaus.

This company is the worst. I started my savings account while I was a City of Chicago employee. I have been trying for over a year to close my saving account. Because I stopped working for the city of Chicago, and the automatic deposits out of my paycheck have stopped, they started deducting $8 a month from my account because of account inactivity. I work out-of-state now and I cannot get to their bank on time during the work week. I have left multiple email requests requests asking to close my account because of the deductions that are draining my savings. keep coming. NO ONE EVERY ANSWERS MY EMAILS!!!! NO ONE EVER CALLS ME! THERE IS NO WAY TO TALK TO A HUMAN BEING!!!! I CANNOT make it to their office and their online website *****. They have terrible hours and they have terrible customer service. I have never gotten any response to my inquiries. I cannot use the online Netteller system because they will not accept my registration. WHY DOESN'T ANYONE RESPOND??? I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!! Stop Robbing me! There is no one calling me back. I have been unable to reach anyone by phone, email, or in writing. I warn people to not conduct business with the Chicago Municipal Employees Credit Union. SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND INACCESSIBLE. They ****. Hopefully, I will get my money back somehow. before my account is drained.
