We stopped in at the Gurnee location to check out a dodge **** pack. And a Tesla. Our salesperson was awesome but the rest of the crew we werent a fan of. When buying a used ***** make sure the car is unlocked from the previous owner so you can put the account in your name. This was not the case. The dealer sold him a locked *****, this mean through ***** you can set up and account and supercharging can not be done. Many countless calls between the dealer and *****. Issued finally resolved after about 4 days. Then he gets a call saying he needs to come in. Finance is having issues with the loan. He needed a co-signer or more money down or ***** more a month payment. Unfortunately I did not like the finance managers attitude so I decided not to co-sign. I did not trust him. So at this point no loan on the car. My son then went to a credit union got approved but not for the full amount. We had to give the car back and take our trade in back. All this is fine. Typical business and we were ok with that. The only bad taste was dealing with the locked out Tesla account. No big deal. Next. Unfortunately not the case. We also had **** down payment owed to us. They told my son they need to look over the car make sure no damage was done and they will refund the funds. Well after 20 days countless phone calls and emails and a ******** review that I had to delete they finally gave him his deposit back. Still not over. When my son got his Chrysler 300 on his way home the check engine light came on. We thought maybe the cold caused a sensor to stick. Now thats its warmed up its still on. Well after scanning it and investigating we found a tampered wire harness. Is this how you do people. I see your response to the bad reviews to call your office. Your staff will help us. Well we did. We tried. I can pull phone logs to prove it. I had to delete a negative review to get our refund back. I wonder how many other bad reviews people took down.Review from Romana Afrose P

Fraud Dealership- **** (Finance manager) Left us ******************* I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with them and I must say, these guys are some sneaky swindlers who'll do whatever it takes to rob you blind. I went to this dealership driving 4 hours as I was interested in one of their listings. As I proceeded to the purchase process, they started being all deceptive. They added several thousand dollars in items we did not need, without even asking for my permission or my consent. They did not even show me the paperwork and simply told me to sign on their I-pad without disclosing what they were adding!! When I checked the breakdown of the expense (I had to ask them a couple of times for that), I found out that they slammed me with some ridiculous $3750 service *********** that I never asked for and it left me feeling exploited and deceived! This is an act of customer fraud. It's shocking to think that a dealership would act like this to manipulate their customers in such a deceitful manner. This level of unethical behavior raises serious questions about their business practices. Not only did they fail to disclose this expense beforehand, but they also violated the basic principles of transparency by not letting me know that they were adding this item to my bill. This experience has left me feeling extremely disappointed. I would strongly advise anyone considering doing business with them to think twice and proceed with caution. This dealership's actions are not only unprofessional but unethical! Read carefully before you agree to sign any paperwork and check out the price breakdown before leaving the dealership. We have had years of business with this dealership. We will no longer be using their service as they went back on their word to repair the oil pan. This started back in the beginning of the year. We had lights on our dashboard that something was wrong. We had to take it back many times and they kept replacing difference parts. On the last time, they said they would give us a free oil change. When I showed up to pick up the car, I read the service summary and they noted on there that the oil pan nut was stripped and they did not advise using the car until replaced. They did not call me, and if I hadn't read the paperwork I would never have known and likely would have ruined by engine. Their service employee, after much back and forth, stated the dealership would replace for free but the item was on backorder. Today they are no longer honoring what that employee promised us because she did not notate it in the file and they want us to pay them $800 for new pan. Do not use this dealership unless you GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. I consider this extremely poor customer service. We do not plan on buying or using them for anything at this point.Review from jeremy j.

I purchased a vehicle on march 29,2023 in on April 9,2023 the vehicle begin to make a loud noise in the engine I contacted the dealership for help with is problem in the answer they gave me was they can't do anything about also know theirs a lemon law in I that's all dealership have to abide by in their not doing so really need help with this todays date is ***** 11,2023 I've have been trying to reach out on multiple occasions we're they all failed only time was successful with talking to the ** is when I asked my boss can l use one of the company's van to drive 40 mins to the dealership in the ** told me that when the service manager return from a meet at the dealership next door around 2:30 on Friday he will give me a call I never received a call in fact I called multiple time again around 4 that same day in still was unsuccessful the young lady that answered the phone said that she will gave the ** my name number in also the make In model of the truck so that he can call till this day still haven't gotta a call nor have been able to get in contact with the ** I don't have any means of transportation because ever time I ask for a loaner I was denied on multiple occasions I also tired to call Monday of this week in Wednesday of this week still no luck in on Wednesday I gave the young lady my contact information again i'm confident that you all have my contact information I also have my call records showing that ive called two months later still no vehicleCustomer Response

Gurnee Volkswagen charged for services not rendered and added an unwanted warranty. They refuse to answer their phones and the voicemail is full.Review from Brandon H

Added ***** dollars worth of warranties to my purchase and never mentioned a word about it. They gave me a price breakdown and monthly cost but did not include warranties in the price breakdown. Not a single word about paying for a warranty or explaining what they are for. I am not sure how this is legal but this appears to be their standard practice. Caught it the next day and canceled but I am sure a lot of people do not.Review from John G

This place is a fraud. They advertise prices and will not honor them. They confirm the advertised price is the actual price when you call to confirm on the phone. Then they add $2500 to the price for LoJack and paint and fabric protection,when you go there. They refuse to sell the car for the advertised price.I thought there were laws to protect consumers from this kind of shady business practice.Review from Brenda R

I want to start by stating that Volkswagen dealership in Gurnee ******** is a deceiving, lying dealership. Not only did they lie to my face four times about fixing an issue, they went ahead and grabbed my personal belongings out of my car and lied to my face and said that they didnt, which later they ended up returning the paperwork that they took from my vehicle. It did not belong to them and they lied to my face. I took my car (which I purchased from them) to get the *** port connected since I failed my emissions test because the port was not connected. I took it in and they dismissed me because my car didnt have a check engine light. I took my car again to get tested and it failed because they didnt connect it. I took my car back to VW dealer and they claimed to have connected the wire. I took my car back to emissions and they worker told me that they didnt do anything, he went on and showed me the lose wire. I went back for the 3rd time and they got mad at me and accused the emissions worker for lying to me. VW dealer claimed to have fixed the issue but they didnt. At this time I was desperate for them to fix it because my license plate sticker was going yo expire. They didnt care how stressed I was, they were simply messing with me. They took advantage of me just because I am a woman and they made me waste so much time going back-and-forth to get the same exact thing fixed over and over. They lied every single time that the port was connected. I spoke to them how unhappy I was, they l did not say sorry or care. Not even three weeks in and the car i just had bought was having problems already. So we took the car to service at the dealership I bought it, *** ******* Gurnee Volkswagen. They said it was something to do with the fuel pump, that I had put gas with too much water in it. So I asked for a paper from them saying that it was the gas that had caused the damage. Then they said they couldnt do that because they actually didnt know what was wrong with the car. That they didnt have a real diagnosis for the car. They recommend not to drive the car until the car was fix. ***** was going to take 4 days for the parts to arrive, plus the days they needed to fix it. So I ask for a rental car, they said they couldnt get one. So I asked to speak with a higher manager which **** ******* the service manger said yes. They made me wait another hour to end up talking to ****** ****** the sales manager who I thought was going to help me out a bit better but did nothing other than to aggravate the situation. He did not only threaten me once but twice to a physical fight. So I ended up calling the police. As I was trying to reach to the store manager or the owner of the place, ***** another worker said I couldnt reach out to any of them until Saturday, so I ask for an appointment to speak to any of them, he said he would make an appointment with **** **** the store manager for Saturday May 22nd 9:30am. When the police arrived they said they couldnt do much since the manager didnt physically attacked me. Once the officers left, ****** once again came outside and said I should not leave with out another warrant. He then proceeded to tell my siblings he refused services. He said he wanted to treat me like his family; if thats the way he treats his family then I feel sorry for any of his family members. I went back in Saturday morning but **** refuse to talk to me. VW corporation said they cant do much since ******* its is own group corporation. Ive being trying to reach out to ******* corporation but they are doing the same as the Gurnee site, just ignoring me. Their complaint voice mail its full and no answer. I have multiple videos of ****** saying all i have said. If you are trying to get a car I would definitely take my business elsewhere! Go to a corporation that will definitely treat costumers right, so you can have the experience of good costumer service as everyone deserves!
