I moved into a new residence in September and contacted Dykstra **** Services to do a clean and check of the electrical furnace on site. The check was done on October 27th and I was advised the furnace was in good condition. Less than 3 weeks later on November 17th the furnace failed. I again called Dykstra and asked that someone who was experienced with electrical furnaces come out. I was advised that the fuses, heating element, and heat pump had been damaged. Parts could be ordered but the repair itself could not be guaranteed. I was also quoted the price for a new air handler and outside condenser. I opted for the repair but was not given a receipt. With no heat, I called the office back and asked that the new units be installed but was not sent a proposal. The new units were installed on Monday November 21st. Before that install I asked the techs if they were sure that the old unit could not be salvaged. They advised that the electrical wires were completely burned and the unit was not repairable. I noticed that what they were about to install was the same type of unit already in place which meant I could expect the same outcome at some point. After the install the unit was very noisy and ran all night. Another tech had to be dispatched the next day. The unit continues to be noisy.Electrical furnaces (Air handler/Heat Pump Condenser) are highly inefficient due to the amount of 60 amps they use. My choices were limited because of no gas line being installed in the house however, it does seem suspect that the furnace failed after I was advised it was in good condition. I received conflicting information about whether the old unit could be salvaged and if the repair could be timely, There is a relationship between ***** Fargo and Dykstra for financing and neither could fully answer questions so I have yet to know the status of this. I am not satisfied with what I think was a rush to install a very expensive unit without due diligence on the part of Dykstra.
