Unless you plan on being there when they open to purchase your tickets, I recommend skipping this attraction. Super frustrating to arrive after a long drive and they are sold out for the weekend. There is nothing else to do close by so it ends up being a wasted trip. The staff does not care and is not sympathetic at all. I cant believe that a tourist attraction like this would not offer online sales/reservations to prevent disappointed customers. There were so many of us walking in to purchase tickets and leaving empty-handed with disappointed families. We likely wont be back to try again on a future trip - not worth the risk of another disappointment.

Linville Caverns does apologize for the disappointment of this customer. We post on our website & ****** that we recommend customers arrive earlier in the day versus later to purchase tickets, ******** can fill quickly & we do sell out of tickets at times. This customer came on a very busy holiday weekend later in the day & was unable to purchase a ticket for the tour apparently. We sold out of tickets for the day around 2pm & a sign was posted before entering the parking lot that we were sold out. We do not have internet connection on site at the caverns & cannot manage online sales from our office about 25 miles away. There are other options in our area such as hiking, waterfalls, gem mining, etc. We apologize again for the disappointment.Review from Rebecca H

My grandson (age 4, has Down syndrome and is also autistic) was turned away from Linville Caverns in NC for not wearing a mask today (Monday, June 14). He physically would not, could not wear it and was not allowed in. The NC mask mandate has been lifted and in all cases children under 5 are exempt. To add an additional insult, we saw children without masks inside the cavern as we were exiting. I want to educate the managers instead of cause harm. How do I do this?Linville Caverns Response

I have spoken with Ms. ****** via email concerning the issue of her grandson not being able to go into the caverns on their visit. We are operating under restrictions given to us by NCDHHS & the CDC. Masks are required on everyone age 2 & older to enter the caverns. Since we have very limited air flow inside the mountain it is not safe for anyone to be inside for the 30 minute tour without a face mask. Anyone not wearing the mask in the proper position is escorted out of the tour. On the day of her visit a family of five was excorted out shortly after Ms. ****** left our gift shop. We are not singling out any individual...the policy applies to all. We regret that the entire family wasn't able to see the caverns, but we are facing this issue every day & we simply will not put our visitors in a harmful situation that potentially exists during Covid 19.
