Programs

              

The HSU, founded in 1960, has always fostered an atmosphere of love and respect for animals in Utah. Its many programs, include: low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination services to the community; transfer and rescue of at-risk pets from other shelters around the state; receiving of owner-surrendered pets that can no longer be a part of their family; behavior department providing assessments and enrichment activities for the pets to stay happy and well-balanced while in its care; shelter and adoption of homeless pets into new loving homes; education of school-aged children and teens across the Wasatch Front about the humane treatment of animals and the homeless pet population; cruelty investigations of animal abuse and neglect around the state; and the promotion of legislation and ordinances that will enhance Utah’s standing in the country.
