STI provides healing resources for persons who have experienced torture and educates professionals and the general public as to the symptoms, effect and treatment of torture. The organization serves torture survivors in the San Diego through psychotherapy, psychiatry, psychological affidavits, medical affidavits, medical care, healing groups, interpreters, and case management. The organization reports that these survivors include adults and children from more than 80 countries that were tortured due to their ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, religion, or political affiliation.
