Programs

              

The Humane Society of South Mississippi (HSSM) is committed to ending pet overpopulation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. HSSM is an open-admissions shelter and turns no pet away based on health, age, or behavioral status. Countdown to Zero is the organization’s initiative working to eliminate euthanasia of healthy and treatable pets in the community. Other programs offered by HSSM include adoptions, spay and neuter efforts, pet identification campaigns, Love Train transportation, and return-to-owner efforts. According to the organization, in 2015, the Humane Society of South Mississippi cared for almost 8,000 homeless pets.
