CAC delivers a wide range of services to low income families in Howard County. These programs include but are not limited to: 1) Homeless Prevention assistance which includes Eviction Prevention, First Month's Rent, One Month's Rent, and Temporary Timed Rental Assistance. 2) Energy Assistance 3) Weatherization including "Healthy Home" educational program 4) Food Assistance 5) Head Start 6) Summer Food Program 7) Summer Enrichment Program (Kindergarten preparation for 4 year olds) 8) Financial Management Services 9) Tax Assistance Services 10) Life Skill Training Approximately 15,000 of Howard Countians live below federal poverty guidelines. However, with limited number of human service organizations, very scarce affordable housing (5 year waiting list), high cost of living, and extremely limited public transportation; low income families struggle greatly to get by.
