In October we had a leak in the first floor ceiling of a 2-story house with dormers. The bad part was that it only leaked every 3rd or 4th rain storm. Called a roofing company who swore up and down the leak was coming from the siding on one of the dormers when the wind was blowing the rain against the side of the dormer. He recommended I call ******************* of Sure Home Improvements. *** came out and thought perhaps the wind was blowing the rain up underneath the flashing in front to the window in the dormer. He nailed down the flashing in question and then proceeded to nail down 5 other flashings on other dormers. *** charged a reasonable fee and said to call him if that didn't stop the leak. It didn't and I called ***. By this time it is mid December and *** shows up with his roofing guy who looks around the siding of the dormer, notes a loose seam in the siding, but finds what he believes is a gap in the seams at the bottom of the dormer. ***** man caulks everything he finds loose. *** says no charge as he didn't find it the first time. But in late February we have the same leak. In frustration, I cut a hole in the bedroom wall to see if I can spot the leak. No leak from the dormer but there are drops of water falling from a piece of insulation onto wide floor boards, pooling on the board before running over the edge and slowly dripping through the studs onto the first floor ceiling and into the leak. I called *** and told him of the find. He came over, saw what I had seen, crawled up onto the very steep roof and found a nail that had popped up about a quarter of an inch off the shingle. The nail tip was very ***** and was probably the culprit. *** cemented everything and felt confident that was the cause of the intermittent leak. Again there was a very reasonable fee. It is now April and no leak. *** stuck with me the whole time and never complained about my calls or texts and we finally got it fixed. Thanks ***!
