We purchased Ortho Orthene Fire Ant killer and applied it around our home on the outside .This was approximately 6 months ago. The smell was very nauseous and smelled like rotten eggs. This smell entered our home though the walls from the outside. It inundated our home and we have been unable to get rid of the smell. It was so powerful that we left our home and stayed with relatives for 3 weeks. Before we left, my family applied baking soda, it did not work. We applied vinegar, it did not remove the smell. We hired someone to dig the soil up and the workers became overwhelmed by the smell. The smell still lingers. We applied fresh soil, it has not removed the smell. We purchased an odor killer made to remove odors, it did not work. We have applied lime and yet we still smell it. I have both phoned Ortho at ###-###-#### with no success. I have emailed Ortho and they are giving me a generic answer about giving me a refund. I do not need a refund, I need a solution to a problem their product created. I have spent over $1000 on products with no solution. Ortho is aware that this is a problem because there are other reviews out there. They claim this product is safe to breath, this cannot be true. I need for ortho to fix the problem they created. I do not care about a refund, I need for them to send a team to fix this issue. Even a severe freeze does not kill the smell. Once the ground gets moist you smell it all over.
