Cambridge Credit Counseling is an accredited member of the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies, offering financial education, credit counseling, and debt management services. Cambridge is also a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, offering Pre- and Post-Purchase Counseling, Rental Counseling, and Foreclosure Intervention and Default Counseling. These services are offered for free to the public. Cambridge also conducts free educational seminars for the public at various locations in the community and at their Agawam, Massachusetts office. These seminars cover a wide variety of topics, including budgeting, credit fundamentals, goal development and savings. According to Cambridge Credit Counseling, individuals who contact the agency will receive personalized assistance, including a diagnosis of their current situation, a root-cause analysis of the factors that caused their difficulty, and an Action Plan designed to address their financial needs and goals. If appropriate, an Action Plan may recommend enrollment in a debt management plan (DMP) as a way to seek concessions from the client's creditors. All counseling services are provided free of charge. Fees for clients enrolling in a DMP will not exceed $75.00 for the initial fee and $50.00 for the monthly fee. Each client's fee is based on several factors, including guidelines established by the state they reside in and their particular circumstances. Cambridge offers its fees on a sliding scale to accommodate clients experiencing financial hardship. Cambridge also offers a refund of the initial fee if the client cancels their DMP enrollment in the first 90 days. Regardless of enrollment in a DMP, additional counseling and education will be provided to reinforce the advice imparted during the initial counseling experience.
