Better Business Bureau serving the Heart of Texas is warning local business owners that the BBB name and logo are being fraudulently used by criminals in a new phishing scam. The fake emails are meant to look like a warning from BBB claiming your company has been found in violation of various menacing sounding acts, such as the “Safety and Health Act”. The email contains links to malware that can infect your computer, with intent to steal passwords and hack your company records. In addition, BBB Scam Tracker has received several reports related to this scam.

If you receive an email that claims to be from BBB, BBB serving the Heart of Texas cautions business owners to not click on any links or attachments. Read carefully for signs that it might be fake and send a copy of the email to phishing@council.bbb.org
