On May 1,2023 I saw a dog get hit by a car and immediately jumped into action. I grabbed the dog and decided to drive to my nearest emergency vet, and central Texas veterinary specialist & emergency hospital was four minutes away. I showed up distraught and as the vet techs took him to examine him, I started filling out a good Samaritan form. This information asked for on this document included my full name, phone number and address. I barely had enough time to finish filling out form before the vet tech returned claiming that since the dog had stable *********************, they were required by protocol, to have the dog transported to the Austin Animal Center. The dog was bleeding. The reassured me that the wounds were superficial. What they NEVER told me was that they had actually refused him because he was considered a stray because he wasn't chipped and didn't have a collar on. This dog was well taken care of. he was freshly bathed. They then proceeded to ask me to transport him there myself. And I didn't even question it because I trusted them, I wanted him to live, and I was in shock. It took 45 minutes to get there in 5 o'clock traffic. He hemorrhaged internally and then died as he was being walked through the hallway. I used a ******** page to try to locate the owners and inform them of all the events that had occurred. This site helped me locate them and we had a long emotional conversation. Soon after this, I start receiving private messages from *********************** taunting me about lying about the dog's death. apparently, it wasn't logged into AAC's system as expired, but as reunited with the owner. Anyone in this industry should recognize that they are volunteer based and almost always overwhelmed due to high volume. I do not know this woman. She obtained my private information from my good Samaritan paperwork. I am a mother. This is not ok. So I reported it to the manager and SHE called me a liar after I presented photographic evidence. I was dismissed just like that.
