  • BBB contacted Resort World Pass on October 28th, November 9th, and December 1st in regards to concerns about the company's marketing, presentation, quality control, and a promotion involving Schlitterbahn. These concerns were in regards to consumers being led to believe they would obtain promised tickets by attending Resort World Pass presentations. However, consumers told BBB they instead received vouchers.

Regarding concerns with the company's marketing, BBB requested Resort World Pass provide previous mailing solicitations sent to consumers. BBB also requested the company to clarify an incident in which a consumer alleged he was told he could win free airline tickets by attending a Southwest Airline call center, clarification on why Resort World Pass' company name was not being included in mailing solicitations, copies of marketing materials used at conventions, a list of contracted marketing companies, and if Resort World Pass reviews what contracted third-marketing companies send out to consumers.

In response, Resort World Pass stated they did not have not any physical marketing materials that could be provided to BBB. The company also stated they was unaware any incident involving a consumer who was told he would receive free tickets and stated they have never represented themselves as Southwest Airlines or any other airlines. BBB responded by informing Resort World Pass that the consumer had sent a copy of a check he was given by the company for leading him to believe he would obtain free airline tickets.

Additionally, Resort World Pass stated they cannot put their company name on mailing solicitations due to contracted third-party companies using the same mailers for other contracted travel clubs. They also provided BBB with a copy of marketing materials used at conventions, a list of contracted marketing companies and fulfillment companies, and clarified that will begin reviewing mailers that are sent to consumers. The company did clarify they were unaware if contracted marketing companies recorded calls for quality control and that no specific script were followed.

In response to concerns regarding the company's presentation, Resort World Pass clarified that they use fulfillment companies as incentives for consumers to attend their presentation. The fulfillment companies provided Resort World Pass with vouchers that are given to consumers, who then must fill in their information and return it to the fulfillment company. Resort World Pass also indicated to BBB that their contracted third-party marketing companies schedule the consumer's presentation. Once the consumer is scheduled, he or she will attend the presentation, but must bring a valid I.D. and a valid major credit card as form of secondary identification. The company also stated they set qualifications in order for consumers to attend their presentation, meaning they must meet a certain age, make a certain amount per year, and have a specific relationship status.

Lastly, Resort World Pass stated they were unaware that any contracted marketing company was still offering any promotions involving Schlitterbahn. The company stated they instructed their marketing companies that they would no longer accept Schlitterbahn incentives. However, in an secret shopping call, BBB found that consumers were still being allowed to make reservations with the Schlitterbahn promotion. Additionally, the marketing representative did not disclose that instead of tickets being issued at the end of a presentation, a voucher would be given.
