      WARNING! Do not use SML for loading moving pods. Their team members are not trained in how to load pods. They damaged or destroyed over 15 items due to neglect, carelessness, and ignorance in the manner of loading the pods. I showed the team members where all the goods to be loaded were located, and also where all the extra protection boxes, straps, tape, blankets, bubble wrap, and shrink wrap was located. A lot of those items were never used.It wasn't until after the pods were finally delivered and unloaded that we found all the damaged/destroyed items. We took pictures before, during and after the unloading process. Through these pictures, and seeing the way things were packed into the pods, it was determined that all damage was due to the improper loading of the goods. None of the damaged/destroyed items were protected properly. Lamp shades were just stacked together and rolled up in a blanket, not in a box, and then shoved into the pod. A large 3 piece wall unit had one unit damaged because it was the only piece that was not protected by a blanket. Floor lamps were damaged/destroyed because they were just shoved into any open space with no protection of any type around them. Several other items were damaged due to excess weight put on top of them, again with no protection.Again all damage was directly due to the manner in which the goods were packed, loaded, and not protected in the pods. Do not use SML.

      This is by far the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. They are liars and try to overcharge. I scheduled a 2-person 3-hour move through SML for 5/13 to load a Pods Container delivered on the 13th. The person I spoke with never mentioned an arrival time, nor did he mention how they normally suggest having movers come the day after a Pod arrives due to the inability to know the exact time a Pod is getting there. That makes complete sense, yet I was never informed so I thought it would be fine to do it the same day. Only after I had paid did I receive a confirmation email that the movers would arrive between ****am. I called again and asked the movers come around 3pm to ensure the Pod would be here and was told it would be a $411 rescheduling fee (despite having an email stating last minute rescheduling was free-of-charge). I fought back and she was able to get the fee down to $200... I frustratedly accepted. I asked her how much it would be to cancel the move all together, and she told me $411, although the terms and conditions CLEARLY states that a cancellation before 6pm CT the day before a move carries at 10% TOTAL FEE charge, which would mean canceling would cost $58 of my originally charged $587. I repeatedly asked to speak to a supervisor, but they couldnt find one. After that call, I received a confirmation email showing the movers were coming for 2 hours instead of the originally discussed and paid for 3 hours. The total **** is now $787 for 2 hours of 2 movers. I was told a supervisor would call me back. They never did. I called 5/13 and was told the reschedule fee would be removed due to the chaos & lies. He calls back and says the fee actually can't be removed and that there were no supervisors available to talk, so I canceled. I've lost hours of packing due to this back and forth and my card has been charged over $1350. What's most infuriating though is them lying throughout the entire process. Horrible company.

      First they were late no problem, we rented blackets from Penske truck rental, because we had some valuable pieces which meant alot to us, when we arrived in ok from ******* and open the truck we were shocked to see the blankets were never used 4 pieces of furniture were scratched, chip, broken, and took off the finish off the side and top of old dresser, They had no remorse and told us we could only get. .60 per pound after 4 weeks we ended with a check for $50.00 no way near what the damage was, we thought these were professional movers? Do not use them , that is myy warning to anyone

      If I could give zero I would 1 star is too much for this company! They sent two gentlemen out who sat in their car and sat in my bathroom for 15 minutes or more during the time that I was paying them, on the clock! When I unloaded my stuff at the storage unit I had a brand new pool that was still in the box missing and a brand new gallon of expensive paint missing. I'm still looking through my things and I'm sure I'll find more stuff that's missing aka Stolen! Of the 2 gentleman that they sent, one was ordering the other guy around who was sick, falling down and could barely move. They couldn't even load all my stuff. They asked me to get a trailer and do the rest myself. Unbelievable!!! I notified the company of this issue and they told me they would "make a note". That doesn't help resolve the situation at all! We just need to get the word out about this company DO-NOT-USE-THEM

      I have moved 13 times over the past 10 years. Why is a long story but I will tell you stay away from this company. I have always hired help to load and unload my stuff. I hired this company to provide 2 loader for 2 hours and 2 unloaders for 2 hours. The loaders didn't show in the designated time. They were due from **** - ****. I called at ****. They put me on hold and contacted the dispatcher. Said they were running late on the last load. Told me the "team" would be there in an hour. After an hour passed, I called again and they again put me on hold to contact the dispatcher. They told me again it would be another 30 minutes. This continued all day until finally 1 mover showed up at 3:00 on a bike that was dripping wet from the rain. I gave the guy a towel and let him dry his clothes. I then contacted and told them that on 1 guy showed up. They told me it would be another hour. After waiting another hour we decided the second guy wouldn't show. So I called again and they told me another 30 minutes. I ended up helping the 1 man that showed load the whole truck. The second man never showed. We finished loading at 6. This completely destroyed my plans. I called them and they said they would only charge me half to compensate for the 1 mover. I just got a call after I have unloaded and moved in to the new place. They told me since the 1 guy was there for 3.5 hours that it would be the same cost and they wouldn't charge me extra. So in essence I paid for two loaders and had to load myself and still ended up being charged for two loaders. Worst company ever in my life. I'm warning you stay away and pick another company. This company is simply awful.

      Wow! What a nightmare! My wife and I agreed to and signed a SML agreement for them to load and unload our things into and out of our rented trucks. They agreed to it and we agreed to it. The next day they called and wanted to change the agreement from two guys to three guys. That was fine with us. However, they refused to put in writing that they were canceling our first agreement. ****, the gentlemen we were working with, talked around and around, often times having explanations that did not make sense. My wife and I finally decided to go with the agreed upon contract we made with them the previous day. **** refused to honor that agreement. It is a legally binding agreement that SML refused to honor. What a great company! Not:). Now, why would they not honor a legally binding agreement? I'm surprised they are still in business. All this haggling took about 3 hours total on the phone and emails back and fourth. SML is an agent. They contract out with other companies. They do not provide the labor themselves. Working with "middle" companies can create all sorts of problems as it did in this case. I give SML a big "0" for not honoring the agreement that they themselves generated. It's a lot easier and cheaper to directly deal with the company providing the labor. That is what we ended up doing. We found several insured companies in the town we are moving from and the town we are moving to. You can speak with them directly instead of having to work with 2nd and 3rd parties like SML. Consumers beware of SML.

      The worst moving experience Ive ever had and I have had some doozies. Relocating from out of state so we had an load scheduled and a separate unload. It was a complete disaster! They continually messed things up either canceled our service and we waited then they had to secure another team sent to guys instead of three that I already paid for all my stuff is ruined the unloaders out here same exact thing happened and by the time they finally got here they were super shady, did not finish the job, moved everything in where they wanted left us with everything did not even bring tools, did not put my furniture back together as I paid for. We asked if they were going to finish the job and they said nope we paid him extra cash just to leave! When calling the company they do absolutely nothing about it except for a small refund that doesnt even cover anything. I even begged them to send out another crew to finish the job because everything was left and we couldnt do it and we paid for it and they told me no It has been a nightmare! Theres a reason this companys accreditation was revoked.

      We used SML to load our home in ******* ***** and again to unload our home in *********, *********. The loaders in the ******* Area were professional and we had no problem with them loading out items. However upon the team unloading my items in *********, ********* the crew were unprofessional and refused to use the proper equipment I had on hand to complete the move correctly. Due to their refusing to use the proper equipment to unload my furniture the damaged several pieces of my furniture. I observed one mover attempting to move a large entertainment center I asked him to wait for help. Again he refused and rolled the large entertainment center of the ramp on a small 4 wheel dolly the entertainment center the hit the ground causing a piece of weed to break off the bottom. When I addressed his recklessness with my furniture he advised that I can make a claim. I made the claim with SML with photos. I received a call back 2 months later stating my claim has been denied. They said it happened during transport. I explained to him that I watch the mover damage my property and I then asked if he spoke with the movers who were at my home. They refused to speak with me any further and said they were satisfied with their decision. I feel that they should have be held liable for the damages even at their ***** rate of .60 a pound. I contracted with SML and paid SML they should have went to the third party to dispute any claims. They do not stand by or with the their customer.

      After spending a little time going through my experience with SML, I decided to leave a review of my unhappiness with the quality of my move.This was without a doubt the most difficult moves I've ever done and SML did nothing to make it a pain free process.While both sets of men were friendly, there were issues that need to be addressed.Load - The packages were not loaded properly into the truck at all. Boxes that were marked "Fragile" were placed at the bottom of stacks, or , in some cases, those same boxes which were labeled "up", were placed either upside down or sideways. Other boxes were jammed into tight spaces and some boxes came out of the van crushed or damaged.The men did not pack everything. As they were getting ready to go , I found several items in the garage that were not packed. I had to call them back and have them complete the load.Unload - The two men who did this load were lazy to say the least. All of our boxes were labeled as to which room they were to be placed as were the rooms themselves. So far we have found about 20 boxes that were not brought upstairs to their respective rooms. These boxes are heavy and my wife and I are unable to bring them upstairs ourselves. Quite a few times during the load, I had to instruct them to take boxes upstairs. The reason I hired movers is so that these heavy boxes could be taken to where they needed to be.With respect to the item above, quite a few times there were comments made about "oh, another trip upstairs" and similar comments. This got a little old after a while and to be honest, while I can understand that this is a hard/physical job, I expect a more professional attitude.Items that were to be put back together (our King size bed frame) were ignored and we were left to do this ourselves as the movers "didn't have the tools to do this". When SML quoted me the move, they said that the movers would have the tools to do this and would not be a problem. Why did these men not bring the tools needed?There was an office desk which was brought upstairs to my office that they said could not fit through the door. They said that the door frame was too small and they'd have to take the door off. I told them they could do that but they told me that the guy who usually does that has the tools and they couldn't do this. However, the next day I was able to get the desk easily through the door.Overall experience - At this time, I cannot recommend SML's service. Along with my comments above, I had other issues regarding the scheduling including:A change that I did not authorize for the load date. The person(s) who helped me said I made a change when I did not. I merely asked if a move could be changed and what the time frame was. The initial unload was cancelled due to the movers not showing up. I had to spend a night in a hotel due to this. SML however are refusing to reimburse me even though I was told that they would do so.

      Sent non pro movers who impropey loaded my pod, did not listen to direction and did not wait for me to wrap furniture. As a result of their incompetence, all my vintage irreplacable furniture arrived damaged beyond repair!!! ??Im not holding my breath I will get reimbursed one ***** from this awful company. The claim form states that furniture damage during travel from point A to point B is not covered by them How can that be if their movers loaded a pod or a truck improperly causing damage during transit, and how do I know if damages were incurred during transit or when they just shoved vintage pieces, unwrapped, wood to wood on top of one another? I hope this company goes out of business and prevents anyone else from heartache. My 75-year-old mother is crying at the loss of a lifetime of furniture. Shame on you, simple moving labor. Shame on you.
