On October 10th, 2022 I visited the **** at Ascension Providence Hospital in ****, ** because I had a fever of 102 degrees, my vision was red, I was sleep deprived and I was extremely nauseous. I thought I may have had a caffeine overdose after driving ************************* to ** (I drank energy drinks to stay awake). It was around midnight when I checked in and I was the only patient in the ER.The ER admitted me and tested me for COVID-19, which ended up being a positive test. After receiving treatment, including some IV fluids, I was held for several hours. I buzzed the nurse twice for help but she didn't come. I asked to urinate and they told me to do it in a plastic jug. They held me much longer than I wanted to be there. Finally, the registration clerk came in and said my bill was $739.12 after insurance. I asked if that was the final bill I would receive and she said "yes" confidently. I clarified with her that I did NOT want to be receiving any bills months later and she said that wouldn't happen. So I paid it in full.Then, in late January I received a medical bill from Ascension Providence for $877.43. The bill did not clarify where the additional charge came from. I called the hospital and the ER supervisor initially said that my balance was $0.00. Then he said "oh wait" and said that it was actually $877.43 after clicking on "settlement". But he was unable to tell me exactly where that number came from. So I called Ascension Providence billing department and spoke to a supervisor who was also unable to clarify the charge. She promised that I would receive an email in 2 business days with an itemized list of charges so I could see exactly where this charge was coming from and which services resulted in the charge. The email still has not arrived in my inbox. In summary, the highest official at the hospital ER wasn't able to help me, the registration clerk lied to me and the billing department has yet to send the email.Account #: *********
