BBB requested Santanna Energy Services address concerns regarding a scam tracker entry received by BBB. The company responded with the following:
"On 10/18/2016 SES discovered Mr. ***** posted his concern on Facebook about the recent SES enrollment. SES reached out and spoke with Mr. ***** on 10/21/2016 and went over his complaint. Mr. Conley claimed he did not understand how the account was enrolled with SES as the supplier. The TPV was reviewed and it was not Mr. ***** in the recording. Please be assured that SES does not approve of any DSR swaying from the script and absolutely does not tolerate any DSR that blatantly fabricates information about our program. After the investigation, it was found that the TPV was inappropriately processed by the DSR. It was explained that SES does not tolerate any type of this behavior and the DSR in this matter was immediately terminated. The account has since been canceled and no ETF was assessed to his account. The account never started with SES. Mr. ***** phone number and address have been added to our internal Do Not Call List and to our Do Not Knock list. He understood and was satisfied with the follow up and resolution."
Santanna Energy Services also supplied BBB with a copy of their sales scripts used by their representatives.
Additionally, Santanna Energy Services provided this response after BBB requested information on their procedure when soliciting new customers:
"SES Door to Door sales representatives are provided Santana’s protocols and scripts to provide clear descriptions, terms and conditions of the programs, and to determine prospective customers’ wishes relative to participation. SES Door to Door sales representatives are assigned to sell santanna program in a certain geographic region. SES Door to Door sales representatives are required to wear the SES logo on their shirt/coat, display a picture ID Badge with the SES logo, agent name and agent number. They also must wear a button with the statement “I do not work for the utility company”. The agent gives the customer a business card with the SES logo, agent name and agent number."
Lastly, Santanna Energy Services provided this response after BBB requested information on their procedure when a consumer agrees to their service:
"For Electric enrollment after the TPV verification, a new customer receives a Welcome Letter from SES, which repeats the terms and conditions of the agreement. The letter also advises the customer that they will receive a confirmation notice from The AEP Columbus Customer Services. They will have 7 Calendar days from the date of that confirmation to reconsider their decision without penalty. To withdraw their enrollment, they may contact either Santanna at 1-800-764-4427, or their utility’s AEP (800) 672-2231."
